Narrogin's
Suzi Rowley and Stan Samulkiewicz have just returned from Melbourne, where
they exhibited furniture which combines both their talents. There is no doubt
it is a winning combination"

It
would be hard to find two people more passionate about their work and the
beautiful products they create. Anyone who has seen the furniture which combines
Suzi Rowley's fused glass and Stan Samulkiewicz's fine woodcraft will understand
just what this passion can achieve.
Together Stan and Suzi became Jarrahworld, which incorporates the furniture
they make together and the name they exhibited under at Furnitex 99, which
was held in Melbourne from July 17 to 20. This is the combination of a dream
the pari have had for the past 12 years, a dream which is finally starting
to come true.
Stan and Suzi took to Melbourne a good cross section of their work, which
has become well known locally and more recently in Perth markets. These included
five dolphin coffee tables which showcase both their talents, with Suzi's
equisited fused glass and Stan's craftsmanship making the tables totally different
to anything anyone in Melbourne had ever seen before.
The tables were made of recycled wood, jarrah, sugar gum and sheoak and they
also took other examples of their work, including pieces of Suzi's glass,
a Roman table and a wine buffet cabinet made by Stan. The contacts they made
in Melbourne were, they said, phenomenal. This was no mean feat considering
they exhibited alongside some of WA's best known fine furniture companies.
"We were on a platform with the best" Stan said "Some renowned
people had taken their work there".
Probably the most important
aspect of the exhibition was the interest they received from overseas. Interest
come from Japanese buyers, eastern States furniture companies including bedroom
furniture and the local, eastern States and New Zealand media including Home
Beautiful magazine. Suzi said this was because their furniture was so unique.
